توضیحات (DESCRIPTION)

هدف helper-mux کاهش بخشی از بار پردازشی است که squid هنگام کار با برنامه‌های کمکی کُند با آن مواجه می‌شود. این کار با ایفای نقش واسطه میان squid و برنامه‌های کمکی واقعی انجام می‌گیرد؛ به این صورت که با squid از طریق نسخه چندبخشی (تسهیم‌شده) پروتکل برنامه کمکی و با برنامه‌های کمکی از طریق نسخه تسهیم‌نشده ارتباط برقرار می‌کند.

برنامه‌های کمکی بر حسب نیاز راه‌اندازی می‌شوند و در تئوری، این تسهیم‌کننده می‌تواند تا ۱۰۰۰ برنامه کمکی را به ازای هر نمونه مدیریت کند. تصمیم‌گیری درباره تعداد برنامه‌های کمکی راه‌اندازی‌شده بر عهده squid است.

این برنامه کمکی را می‌توان با استفاده از سیگنال‌های مختلف کنترل کرد:

- SIGHUP: تخلیه وضعیت تمام برنامه‌های کمکی در خروجی استاندارد خطا (STDERR)

مشکلات شناخته‌شده (KNOWN ISSUES)

helper-mux هیچ اطلاعی از پیام‌های واقعی که رد و بدل می‌شوند ندارد و از این رو هنوز نمی‌تواند خرابی برنامه‌های کمکی را جبران کند.

این ابزار هنوز قادر به مدیریت برنامه‌های کمکی از کار افتاده نیست.
